The Anne Green Free Clinic

The Legacy of Anne Green

Friend of the clinic, Barbara “Anne” Green passed away on March 9, 2021. Mrs. Green was an amazing Christian lady who loved to serve others. Because of her diligence and advocacy, Lumpkin County has a Free Clinic for those in need. Mrs. Green supported many Christian charities, missions, and helping organizations, and one of her favorite projects was helping to coordinate the Annual Tomato Sandwich Supper fundraiser event to raise operational support for the Free Clinic. This annual event was part of her dream for the clinic, and without its success, many people would go without healthcare and treatment. The CHP Free Clinic has gone from a small conference room with two curtains and one volunteer physician to a comprehensive facility with 14 volunteer physicians and a multitude of medical and clerical volunteers. In 2020, the CHP Board of Directors began searching for a new space to move the clinic, due to the overwhelming need and the volume of patients seen inside the clinic each week. In October 2020, we were blessed with use of the land that is literally in our own backyard here at the Rock House. In the midst of our capital campaign, we learned that Mrs. Green was coming to the end of her life. She was extremely proud of the CHP Free Clinic, so we have decided to name our new building in her honor and in the memory of her loving, Christian spirit.

Our free clinic has been serving the uninsured and underinsured patients of Lumpkin County since 2007.

Quietly and without applause, Anne exemplified the very characteristics of Christian love and charity that we aspire to demonstrate in the work that we do with the less fortunate in our community.
